Spring Science Extravaganza

Saturday, April 22, 2023, 6am Update
Bundle up and come on out, SSE is on! Due to the weather we will have to move some things around. Stop by our information booth or ask any of our CSU students and staff if you need help finding something!

  • Sensory-friendly, Bug Zoo, Illusion Zone, and Lakota Star Knowledge will all be indoors.
  • Big Air (except for the fog canon and drum) will be by NESB.
  • Fog canon and drum will be under the Clark bright near Clark C.
  • IR station will be east of the Clark bridge.
  • Rockets will be between Clark and Plant Sciences.
  • Ball Racer will be by NESB and Big Air.
  • Chair Illusion will be near the Greenhouse and NESB.

Free and open to the public!

Our big outdoor event will return this year! We will have 200+ hands-on experiment stations to excite and inspire people of all ages as well as giant science demonstrations that can only be done outside! Stomp rockets, giant fog rings, blowers that launch balls into the air, and a grand finale that you just have to see! 

We are so lucky to have partners from the CSU community and beyond joining us in sharing exciting science experiments and experiences. These partners include:

In order to be accessible to as many folks as possible, 10am-11am will be a Sensory Friendly hour outside, with reduced sounds and lights. Additionally, we will have a Sensory Friendly zone running all day in the Clark A lounge.

Transportation and Parking

The Spring Science Extravaganza will take place on the Monfort Quad on the Main Campus of Colorado State University (see interactive map below). Campus may be accessed by the Transfort Max Line, bicycle, or car. Parking is mostly free on Saturdays (check signage) and is available at many locations including the Morgan Library, the Engineering Building, Animal Sciences, and pay-to-park in the Lake Street and Pitkin Garages (please note that the Grit Run will be taking place on Centre Ave from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. so walking access from the Library lot or West campus may be unavailable).
