What You Need

Sources of different colored lights. We used http://goo.gl/MZBmxW
Different colored objects (fabric, toys, balls, etc.)

What’s Going On?

An object appears a certain color because it reflects that color of light. A red ball appears red because it reflects red and absorbs all other colors. White light, like the sun and most indoor lighting, is made up of all the colors of the rainbow. However, if you shine blue light on a red ball, there is no red light to reflect, and the ball will appear dark. So the color something appears depends on both what colors it reflects and what colors shine on it.
