Eclipse Glasses Fundraiser for Robert Surenjogi’s Orphanage

 In Little Shop News

As part of the Great American Eclipse, the Little Shop of Physics along with ESMEI handed out 50,000 pairs of glasses in order for folks to safely view the sun. The majority of these glasses were provided free of charge to students Poudre School District and Colorado State University.

The remainder of the eclipse glasses were made available to the public, with a suggested donation of $1/pair. Overall, we collected $5,000 in donations, and this money was was given to Robert Surenjogi’s Orphanage. Robert is a CSU employee and long time friend of Little Shop of Physics; he is originally from Uganda, Africa, where the orphanage is located. Robert’s orphanage provides education for 100+ students between the ages of 5-16 years old as well as providing living for teachers and adoptive parents.
